Shabby Chic Lavender Love Hearts

This year I really want to diversify my sewing crafts and start a little range of home wear items. With Valentine's day fast approaching, I decided to try making some pretty lavender filled hanging hearts. I have so many vintage fabric scraps and trims, as I never throw anything away!! I came up with these patchwork hearts, which I'm pleased with. I'll be adding more items, such as needle cases, key rings and i phone cases later on. I have yet to try out my new machine embroidery foot, but that's next on my list. Of course, I'll still be making hats, fascinators, bridal accessories and a splash of burlesque for good measure!!

1st Christmas.

Here we are just four short days away from Christmas day. A feeling of relief is washing over me, as I realise Mr.T and I have succeeded in our laborious house and job move and can hopefully relax this holiday with family and friends, not forgetting Lulu the kitty cat, in front of our log burner. The last 18 months has certainly had it's moments for both of us. I am still trying to stop myself from chewing the inside of my mouth in anxiety. At least I don't have panic attacks any more, they went away of their own accord. I have always been used to living in a strange mental state inside my head, even though I'm always trying to look and behave "normal", whatever that means. I guess it's just part of my creative mind, so at least I get some crazy cute hats made and there's always room for more!! Thank you to each one of you who reads my rambling and wishing you all a very happy Christmas and a peaceful new year!! A Peter Pan Patchwork Of Collars!!

I had the idea of making detachable Peter Pan collars recently. I started with a couple, then was totally carried away and now have a pile of them!! Luckily I sold two last week week to a buyer in Tokyo, my first sale to Japan! I now have a lovely variety of collars in both my Etsy and Folksy shop. Some are adorned with trims and some are plainer. These little collars will give your outfit a individual egde and also make lovely unique Christmas gifts. Here I am in the beautiful Cotswold's, on a misty Saturday morning on the 1st of October!! The tree tops all around are turning to shades of gold, pumpkin and burnt orange. I can here the Cockerel crowing and a pheasant "clattering", with the clumsy flapping they make!! My thoughts are going towards creating wonderful winter accessories. I'm certainly feeling inspired by my location, close to Gatcombe Park, in the "Royal triangle". Harris tweeds and tartans are my chosen fabrics and I made the items in my photo's from upcycled scraps, purchased from a Scottish mill and a fellow UK Folksy seller!! These hats and bobby pins are listed in my Etsy shop, there's only one of each, as my scraps are small!! The strange thing is, we are having a late Indian summer here in the UK and when it warms up, the barbecue will be put into full action, with a spot of autumn sunbathing....Tally Ho!!!!

"Winter Hat Collection"

I'm really enjoying working on new designs at present. My new 14cm sinamay fascinator bases have arrived, along with a shipment of vintage millinery flowers and vintage brooches. The hats are larger than my usual 10cm bases and need a tad more effort when decorating. Some of my new hats have been sold to a lovely local shop, here in the Cotswold's, where I am lucky enough to live. The remaining four hats are listed either in my Folksy or Etsy shops. The buyers will receive a one of a kind statement piece, as I won't be making any two the same. That would be no fun!!! You may be able to guess, these are inspired by the turning of the seasons as we head into Autumn, fall!!

"Smoothie Heaven!"

If you haven't already started making your own fruit smoothies, I would urge you to start experimenting as they are truly delicious and a great way of using up some over ripe fruit at this time of year! I always seem to have a few strawberries lurking at the back of the fridge and love to blend them with this recipe I made up...

A handful of strawberries,
half a banana,
a slosh of orange juice,
a squeeze of lemon juice,
two ice cubes,
a few mint leaves.

Just pop all the ingredients into the blender and off you go. Add a sprig of mint for decoration. I also love using melon and ginger to replace the strawberries and mint.

I know I should probably hide all the mess from prospective customers and other tidier crafter's, but I'm feeling very much like wearing my heart on my sleeve!! Mr. Tony will never understand that being highly creative requires total freedom from restraint and that in turn means not being afraid to make a "mess". I use so many tools and various bits and pieces, that even when I have actually tidied up, there's still loads of "stuff" everywhere, from pliers, wire cutters, sewing machines, millinery bits and fabrics. I did in reality tidy up only a day or so and now look at it!! So here's a photo of my work space and I've included the view from the window, which is so picturesque, as I look down on the little stream which runs down the side of our garden. That view was worth all the hardship of last winter. A big hug and many thanks to everyone who left a comment on my last post ♥

"Over the rainbow"

Well dear readers, it has been almost one year since Mr. T and I began the journey to our new life! Last September, we took our usual holiday in a secret location in Cornwall, preceded by an extra week staying in a cottage in the Peppercomb valley in Devon. On the last day of our holiday, Mr. T said, "we'll know, this time next week!". And so on his first day back at work, Mr. T was made redundant. That word, "REDUNDANT" which strikes fear into the hearts of grown men, {especially one's with a huge mortgage!} had entered our arena. Ringing in your ears are connotations of, "we don't need you any more", and "So long cheer leader", and "Asta la vista baby", I could go on!! Never mind, we had thought ahead and were planning vaguely on a change. Nothing is that simple! We had not prepared ourselves for the huge emotional burden faced by both of us and especially Mr. T! Our home of eight years now seemed a massive ball and chain. I put the house up for sale immediately. Looking for work became a full time job in itself for Mr. T. His confidence was at rock bottom, simply because he hadn't had to prepare for a job interview in about 25 years!! He had to work with an agency on getting that pesky C.V up to date and up to scratch. On top of all this, the bits of work I had were dried up, I had to find a job too! Winter was setting in and I traipsed around local supermarkets, asking about work. These were depressing times. Luckily, I was re-employed part time by a local fashion company, where I'd worked previously. We still needed the major breadwinner to come up with the goods though. Every morning when we awoke, there was a feeling of impending doom and racing hearts, as the mortgage ate away at our funds. Just before Christmas, the job offers began to come in for Mr. T and we had to decide which one and where, as they all meant moving away from Leicester, where I was born and where most of my family still live, including my daughter and Mum! We chose Gloucestershire and another chapter had begun. Last winter was particularly harsh and cold. Immediately after Christmas, Mr.T began his new job in Gloucestershire, living in rented accom' and I stayed alone in the big house in Leicester. We sold the house this spring, for less than we had wanted, but we had to move on with life, it was a huge relief! I gave up my job and had to leave on the same day, there was no time to give notice, as I was homeless. I took chocolate biccies for everyone at work and most of them thought it was my birthday! I moved into the rented flat with Mr. T and started house hunting. So now, almost a year later, we have moved into our new home, near Tetbury. Lulu the kitty is here with us now thankfully! We have no curtains yet, but we have arrived! We have booked our holiday in the cottage in Cornwall, {in a secret location, lol!} and we will open the champagne on our 1st night! Here's Mr. T standing alone on Peppercomb beach, just as a rainbow appeared, almost exactly a year since the start of this journey.

I've really been enjoying working with peacock feathers recently and do seem to have rather a lot of listings featuring them, lets see if I can manage to show you some photos in an orderly fashion!!! Here goes! One of the items is sold, but all the others are still listed in my Folksy or Etsy shops. The headbands with the big feather pads are very easy to wear and add a bohiemian instant impact, lovely!! I dream of peonies

I always enjoy the Chelsea flower show, especially this year, as I need inspiration for my new garden. More about that later!!!!
Mr. T and I just returned from a short cottage break in beautiful Snowdonia. Well, of course it rained a few times!! Luckily I took all my new organza fabrics along to enjoy the holiday and spent time making up some new peony corsages. They do say "A woman's' work is never done!" Going back to the flower show, I saw some utterly divine peonies, they are my favourite cut flower. "Hazy Sunday Afternoon"

Last Sunday was such a warm sunny day, so Talulah Blue and photograper friend Grace Elkin decided upon an impromptu photo shoot. We thought you may enjoy seeing some of the outtakes from the shoot. Out in the beautiful Leicestershire countryside, we found a meadow of bright yellow oil seed rape, within an almost magical wooded setting. The mustard yellow of the leaves seemed to echo the shade of the rape seed flowers. After the shoot, we all went back to Grace's house, where her boyfriend rustled up a barbecue supper. The perfect ending to a great day!

This Saturday evening, Talulah Blue could be splashed over our TV screens, as she performs her "White fan dance" for the audience and judges on "Britain's Got Talent"! Auditions run for the next seven weeks. Never before have we been so excited!!! I think we are all relieved that winter is well and truly over. This morning, the sun is shinning and the sky is blue blue blue!! I just popped outside and took a few shots of the stunning blossom on trees in my garden. Clematis Aamandii is flowering over my wall. There's a wonderful deep red cherry, borrowed from my neighbour's garden and the sweet white damson, by my patio, stunning!!!

With our house move fast approaching in about three weeks, you would think that I'd be spending all my spare time packing boxes and generally organising stuff. But nooo, that is not the case, as I am obsessed with making lace bunny ears at the moment! I have listed these new designs in my etsy and folksy shops. There's a cute Dormouse headband too, for anyone who finds the idea of wearing towering rabbit ears somewhat daunting! One of the joys of having a shop in Folksy is that I get to buy beautiful hand made items from other UK sellers. I often reward myself with a treat when my sales are going well. It's not all about selling though. To me and many of other people, it's about supporting the hand made market place.
The little bowls in my photo are hand made by Liz, a talented folksy seller. Liz has used super soft 100% merino wool, in contrasting shades, blended together for this stunning effect. The three bowls make a pretty decorative feature, nestled together on my side table. They are just big enough to hold a few sweets, or buttons. We were so delighted at Talulah Blue when someone called from ITV's "This Morning" to ask if they could include one of our cute cocktail hats in their Burlesque Valentine's underwear fashion special. It was a lovely fashion shoot, with many glamorous, gorgeous items to feast your eyes on. Since Talulah Blue launched her performing career, things have been getting very busy in the sewing room! The more new dances she creates, the more costumes need putting together. These are photos from a recent publicity shoot and of course show off the beautiful shabby chic attire. The Lacy wrap around Talulah's shoulders is in fact a bustle, which I constructed on the stand, then machine stitched. It is very layered and intricate. Hi everyone. Well, we are in the depths of winter and need cheering up a bit as Christmas is over, so now we must look forward to spring. I know it's a way off as yet, but time does seem to fly if last year is anything to go by. Don't forget to fill up your bird feeders, as the Little blue tits, Robbins and finches have a tough time at this time of year.

Hello everyone. I haven't had much time to write lately.
As we come to the end of 2010, so much has happened this year! Mr T and I were both made redundant from our day jobs and went through a frightening and emotionally tricky time. All that is behind us now, as we both have new jobs. I still work in the fashion design industry as always and Mr T has found bigger better employment in his neck of the woods. So Mr T begins his new career in banking in Wiltshire and as a result, our house is now up for sale, so we can re-locate. I won't be in my new job for long if the house sells fairly quickly and I'm going full time with my accessories and art shops. Yay, can't wait!! It has been a difficult year, but everything seems to be working out for us now! Happy Christmas and a peaceful new year to you all ♥

New corsages

I've gone a bit mad on making the organza peony corsages. I may still go shopping for some new colours though. There's something therapeutic about gently turning the organza discs over a candle flame! This is how I seal the edges and it helps to give a petal shape. Here's some photos of my latest peony's. Is it just me or has this year flown by much faster than usual? Maybe it's me getting older, but I can barely keep up the pace!!
Maths is not my strong point, so I won't try to count how many shopping days there are left before Christmas. I have tried to keep my accessories shop as festive as possible, with reds, white and a best selling poinsettia corsage. Oh and not forgetting the cute mini Xmas stockings. "Arsnic and old lace"

Okay, so there's not really any arsenic in my accessory designs, but there's plenty of vintage lace, mixed with new. Some of my new neck ruffles have a distinctively vintage feel about them, which is what made me think of the 1944 film with that name!

"As the leaves turn to red and gold"

Autumn is officially here! I have to admit, it's one of my favorite times of year. I haven't had much free time though to spend in my garden lately, what with the accessories and now, my folksy and etsy Art shops, which I'm very proud of!
Still, I have a couple of leafy photos of my potted grape vine, changing colour and my lace cap hydrangea, in full flower amongst the falling leaves.

This winter, faux fur is going to be massive!! It's been all over the catwalks for the coming winter season.

I have been very busy adding new stock to my Folksy shop this week. Recently, there have been requests for items to wear with this seasons nude shade of dresses. I have added lovey dove grey and latte hair accessories and a sweet dusky pink lined wrap. I couldn't resist making the sweet roses mini hat!! My hair stylist asked me to make her a dark grey hair clip, which I'm off to deliver as a gift today. This item was listed in my Folksy shop yesterday and sold in minutes! Well, I haven't posted in a couple of weeks. I decided to change my format to a three collumn blog, not realising that nothing in life is simple. Suddenly my banner didn't sit in the correct place and then I couldn't get the background to load to the top of the page. To cap it all, I had to work out how to add moderation to my comments, so I can filter out those pesky spammers, who were driving me crazy, {gottcha!!!} So then I thought, oh dear my banner looks old and tired, so I made half a dozen new ones before I came up with this fresh breezy looking idea. Of course I then had to make another one the same for my folksy shop! My poor etsy shop looks like a half empy jumble sale, as there's no time to look after it properly, with sales from folksy soaring! I don't know what it is about etsy, but I can't seem to make a go of it, even though I love the site!
I have a feeling my Art shops will have the same outcome. Catch you all later ♥

Peony and pearls!

I absolutely love custom orders!! There is nothing quite like the joy of making a special item for a very special day, even more so when the order is for a bride!! I have been so lucky to have worked on several custom orders this year and would like to show off my latest.
This is an ivory organza peony corsage, with beading, freshwater pearls and silk thread stamens.
It ties around the waist with long satin ribbons, which hang down mixed with organza ribbons and secures with a brooch pin. Stunning!! This is now available to buy in my folksy shop. Many thanks for viewing...

Ditsy flower power

There's a lovely folk story running through the fashion pages at the moment. I love to see and wear ditsy florals and waft around in floaty maxi dresses on a summer's day. Butterfly flutterby!!

Summer is here with halcyon days and dreamy hot nights. I wish it would never end as I am a summer baby and can't bear the cold! There's nothing as pretty as a butterfly carried on the breeze as it makes its way accross my garden.
One butterfly I would like to let go of though is my purple fascinator, which is why I have her on SALE. She's reduced from £25.00 to £15.00 at the moment.

I was so pleased to receive a custom order from a bride recently. The wedding dress was ivory with black lace panels overlaid, very sophisticated.

I've so enjoyed the Chelsea flower show this week, as I do every year, even though Alan Titchmarsh managed to refer to the general public as riff raff on Wednesday's show and had to spend several minutes back peddling!!
One of my favourites each year is the naming of new roses and you can imagine their heavenly scent, through the TV screen. It's a shame I didn't get to Chelsea in person this year, but I will celebrate with a few of my rose inspired items, many thanks for looking ♥

I've been asked to make a custom wedding garter this week, which has reminded me of all the fabulous frillies I have in stock. I make up the main body of the garters on my sewing machine, then twice a year, I go off to Cornwall for a holiday and take a huge load of hand sewing with me. I feel compelled to share with you my 50 metre roll of natural cotton scrim fabric, 127cm/50" wide.
I have to confess, I was selling this fabric for a friend and it's been going so well that I decided to invest in a roll myself, { sorry Maggie!!}. Seriously, though I don't think she'll mind as I have shipped many metres for her!
The fabric is great for nuno and machine felting and dyes very well. It has an open weave texture, which can be pulled about and frayed. I will be dying some this weekend, to make a scarf for myself and to include in my corsage making.

Mother's day on March the 14th heralds the start of spring for me, but also makes me slightly panick, as my own mother has her birthday in the same week! Now is the time to get organised and find gifts to mark the occassion. I have created a small range of corsages, made from vintage fabric and trims, of which I have pleanty!! The recent Burlesque event " Amour Burlesque ", was a huge success here in Leicester, with tickets selling out. While I don't have photos of the night to display yet, let me show you some of the hand beaded pasties I make for the professional dancers to twirl and sparkle on stage, or for glamorous girls to display on their dressing tables.
I like to think of the pasties as little cup cakes on a cake stand in Marie Antoinette's boudoir!
Most of my hand beading takes place in the summer, whilst Mr. Tony and I are on holiday in our secret hideaway in beloved Cornwall. I sit by the huge log fire, or by the stream to enjoy my work! It would be much too time consuming to make the pasties during a working week!

I am always trying to think up new and exiting products to list in my folksy and etsy shops.
It's always best to offer great value for money, never more so than right now, especially when you make luxury items, like moi!!
So, although my cocktail hats are simply perfect to wear at a wedding or posh occasion, my customers may want something with a more contemporary feel.
I've started a range of simple veils, which are inexpensive, young and flirty.

Recently, I have become more interested in creating pieces of Art, though I am yet to have one style of my own, as I paint and draw with several different techniques.
This week, I have compiled a mini treasury of my folk art style of painting.
This look is achieved using a resist technique, which involves layering black ink, white gouache and coloured acrylics, on 400g watercolour paper. It works well for those who enjoy painting in a very spontaneous fashion, letting the picture develop gradually.

The Christmas holidays have given me plenty of time to explore new ways of being creative. After all the rich excessive food and drink, I needed to get back to something more natural. Lucky for me, I came across a new fabric to play with. It's called " cotton scrim ", which I had never heard of before, though it's so versatile, inexpensive and blends in well with other fabrics. I came up with a delightful project, perfect for a pure and simple hand made wedding for the new age. Another Christmas day gone by and thankfully without a hitch. I don't know how I managed to cook Turkey and all the trimmings without over cooking something or forgetting a major component, but "hey" I did it, tra la la!!! The thing is, of late I have come to rely too much on M&S ready meals and was thinking I may have lost my touch when it comes to "proper" cooking. Mr Tony made the dessert of chocolate mousse and homemade vanilla ice cream, very impressive!!! My daughter Amber bought along this very cute gingerbread house, made by her own fair hands on Christmas eve. Happy holidays xx

Apart from World piece of course, which seems unlikely given the history of Humankind!!! It's the Topshop faux fur leopard print coat as worn by Alexa Chung!! Although, as a veteran maker of faux leopard print wraps and hats, this coat looks more like cheetah to moi! Anyhow, I have missed out in the shops, as it sold out weeks ago and have now saved lots of money by not being able to " win " the blasted thing in ebay, or, " fleabay " as Mr Tony affectionately refers to the auction house, so near to our hearts. Tales from Talulah.. "Last Christmas !!!"

" I gave you my heart and the very next day, you gave it away ". Aah the joy of George Michael and Wham! Still a great song for Christmas. However, back to the real story of " Last Christmas" and how it was for myself and Mr. Tony!! It was exactly one year ago that we flew out for a five day break to Marrakech. The week before we flew, I started experiencing frightening multiple panick attacks, for no obvious reason! The day before we flew out, I realised that I felt strange...my skin was sensitive and prickly and I was glad to finish work. On arriving home, Mr Tony had his head in a bowl and was vomiting profusely!! We were indeed entering the realms of the "Unwell". On arriving at the Hotel in Marrakech, we decided to rest for a couple of days, to speed recovery. It was all in vain though, as on the third morning I awoke with a massive headache, worse than anything ever before, so bad that I was being sick and unable to funtion normally and this was the first day I stopped eating for over a week. The only successful outing was when on the last day we fell into a cab and visited the Yves saint Laurent Majorelle Gardens, as I was determined and took some great photos! We arrived back in the uk just before Christmas, so glad to be home and Christmas day was spent just the two of us huddled on the sofa, too ill to eat or enjoy the day. The next thing I knew, I 'd cracked a rib with all the coughing and spent the first week in January on heavy pain killers!! We don't know for sure what the mystery illness was, but thankfully are both in good health to enjoy Christmas to the max this year !!

" Christmas Wreath"

Over the past 4 years I've enjoyed making my own Christmas front door decoration, which I'd love to share with you. I think the original idea came from the "Sunday Times" magazine! To begin, I made up a framework, with any greenish twigs, not too dry and brittle. I tied them all together with florists wire, then added some fir cones and a little bird in a nest from a local garden centre. This is the basic frame which can be used year after year. I pick fresh leaves and flowers from my garden every year to adorn the wreath. I've used Rosemary and ivy, as they're strong and flexible, which I've pushed through the florists wire. I cut off the flowers from my Hydranger and hung them up to dry slightly, then removed the leaves and also added some Skimia sprigs, as they flower in winter. I finished with a couple of peacock feathers! You can add anything you like, including rosehips and holly, for the berries. It doesn't look as perfect and symetrical as a bought wreath, but it smells of fresh herbs and looks unique!!! Have fun, if you decide to make your own and happy Christmas to you all xx

We're a funny bunch, the British, with our curious customs and pass times. I think "teatime" is one of my personal favourites, a bit like a posh indoors pick nick, where you get to eat dainty sandwiches, soft boiled eggs and cup cakes all washed down with a steaming cuppa, poured from a very heavy teapot! Of course, you don't have to make "tea" yourself, you can go to the Ritz Hotel in London, where they serve High tea every day! I know there are many Folksy sellers who are......shall we say, "fond" of a slice of cake {and the rest!}. We all love to look at our Etsy shops to see who's loving it. I was amazed today when I had a look around my etsy shop to find that one of my items has 43 hearts, yes that's right 43!!!

I have to admit to having a penchant for things dark and Gothic, but try to stay clear of 1970's "goth" ideas in the style of head banging rockers with pythons and that sort of thing. Also, the rather tedious miserable black straight hair with a white face a la "vampires". However, vampires are having a bit of a moment right now, with "Twilight" etc, so we have have to find a small place in our hearts for them, (or a wooden stake!!) Now that I have managed to build a photo treasury, I decided to make the 1st theme softly gothic, with items chosen from folksy.

I started out about a year ago with my Etsy and Folksy shops. It all began when Amber, my daughter wanted me to help her find a name suitable for a " Burlesque " dancer, to sell her pasties under, { that's nipple tassels to us !}. we came up with the name " Talulahblue " and I began thinking, " what can I make ?" to complement Amber's items and came up with frilly leg garters. Well, I had a wholesale order for those and rushed out to spend £200 on satin ribbon and lace. However, the sales of garters alone proved disappointing in the long run, so I felt compelled to come up with another idea to use up some of the satin ribbon and start getting my money back. Suddenly there was a huge amount of interest in the media for veiled hair bows. They were all over the Luella catwalk. I was already making cocktail hats by then, so the veiled bows were a natural progression. Et Voila !! Best selling item of all time for moi and I used up loads of ribbon and had to start buying more. These can quickly be made to order in many different colours. I still make the luxery leg garters, many of which are listed in my Etsy shop xx

Last weekend, I had a "Eureka" moment! I was trying to come up with some inexpensive items to list in my shops and to add to my Christmas craft fair stash, when I found a new way to make informal and very affordable cocktail hats. These can be worn anytime and have only a hint of veiling. The soft knitted fabrics are great worn in the daytime and just give you a bit of edge as you walk down the street. These will gradually be listed in my folksy shop, unless you are desperate to have one sooner, at around £17.00 each. See how they snuggle together like a basket of kittens in the first photo!!

I am enjoying the new series of " Masterchef the professionals" greatly. I love the way they talk about chefs needing to know all the french classics, such as sauce Bearnaise` , how to bone out a fish and crepes! In fact I made a lovely "Beuf a la Bourguignon" for Sunday supper.
However, let us not forget the great British classics, such as Angel Delight, Mr Kipling fondant fancies, Vesta chow mein and pot noodle, to name but a few!!

I had such a lovely time in Cornwall with Mr. Tony. However, it's always good to arrive home and find every thing in order, {well not everything, the house alarm went off in the night, waking my neighbours !} What a pleasing site to see my pink geraniums in full bloom, when I had dead headed them just before we left.

Cadgwith Cove

Over the last 12 years Mr. Tony and I have holidayed in beloved Cornwall at least once a year.
With its stunning craggy scenery and tiny fishing villages, found along narrow winding roads, it's the perfect place for us. I always take some hand beading with me for my Etsy and Folksy shops! One such fishing village and a firm favourite is Cadgwith cove. Up until the 1950's, pilchards were fished here, but now with climate change and over fishing, they are no longer a viable source of income. However, crab and lobster pots are still taken out to sea, weather permitting! Cadgwith is very photogenic, as you can see from a selection of my pics xx

Tales from Talulah!!

Long long ago, in the olden days, before Etsy, Folksy and computer literacy, I wanted to be a professional artist. I painted each day before heading off to my day job. One day, I took my work to a tiny hidden away gallery, where the owner proceded to rip my work to shreds {verbally}
and told me I should go on a painting course ! This unnerved me greatly, as I had an appointment with a prestigious large gallery in the city centre, the very next day!

Terrified, I kept my appointment and to my astonishment, the owner was kind, generous and loved some of my work. So much so, that she bought five pieces out of about nine and paid cash !

I have never found the courage to try selling through a gallery since!!

The moral of this tale is in here somewhere, for you to figure out. In the meantime, here are a few of my artworks.

Autumn approaches!! As the sun casts long warm shadows over the afternoon garden, with a hazy mellow glow, I know in honesty that the last few weeks of summer are slowly ebbing away. Let us celebrate the inevitable coming of Autumn, with it's ripe blackberries and New England russet shades. I have chosen a handful of items by " Folksy " sellers, evocative of the glorious deep colour pallet that is " Autumn ".

Amber Jade is 27 !

Let me introduce you to my lovely daughter.
Her name is Amber Jade and she is of course a little gem!
Amber was 27 on her birthday yesterday. Together we are "talulahblue", a two woman Bridal and Burlesque accessory team.

Amber specialises in making Gorgeous Ostrich feather Burlesque fans and pasties with tassels for twirling. She is also an events organiser on the Burlesque and music scene. If that weren't enough, Amber is also a professional graphic designer and you will see her work on young womens wear in the high street.

FOXY The Vixen

As some of you guys will know, I sometimes blog about gardens and nature. So let me introduce you to " Foxy". You can see for yourself how bold she is. I say "she" at a guess! Mr Tony and I were at our favourite Cornish retreat, this June, deep in a hidden woodland complete with babbling brook and wild flowers, {at a secret location!}. Foxy just "appeared" one day and made regular visits. Her interests include...Eating out, making new friends, watching films, {Withnail & I } and generally hanging out with kind folk. Oh yes and she helped Mr T. with his barbecue and map reading. I know foxes can be a problem, but this is a very rural location. We're going back to Cornwall in a couple of weeks. Fingers crossed that we'll see Foxy again. If we do I'll keep you all updated xx

Leopard Love

As Autumn slowly creeps upon us and the nights draw in,
fashion inevitably looks towards winter trends. Leopard print has been a staple look over recent years. Of course you see this and other Animal prints in the summer months, but during the winter, that's when the look gets classy. Along with Velvet and Tartan, Leopard gives designers plenty of new inspiration for the Fall and winter collections. I'll be looking for a new faux fur Leopard print coat for myself, to wear casually with jeans and a pretty neck scarf and sequin beret! Here's a few of my own Leopard print designs xx

Afternoon Delight

Monday morning and You've guessed it, it's raining again! Lets not forget the lovely weather we had this weekend though. There's nothing mr. Tony and I would rather do on a sunny Sunday than have an impromptu barbecue. Just the two of us, some good food and drink, the Sunday papers and the dappled sunlight. Bliss!

A cocktail of fascinators

Ever since Sarah Jessica Parker stepped out in her Philip Treacy towering confection at the Sex and the city premier, mini cocktail hats and fascinators have become a must have fashion accessory. The Philip Treacy creation received mixed reviews, with it's huge green rose and giant butterflies. For me however, it was love at first sight. At that moment, I knew I wanted to make cocktail hats. My inspiration comes from all my favourite things. History plays a part, with Marie Antoinette, Dickensian London and The ballet. Also, my love of gardens and beaches is a source to dip into, as is modern and youth culture. This reminds me, I must create my own towering confection on a wintry theme, when I get around to it !

Rockpools rock!!

Ever since I was a child, rock pools have held a fascination for me, with their tiny world within a world. I still collect seaweed, pebbles and sea shells.

I love the way the sun plays on the water, creating dappled ripples. How do you like my jelly fruity sandals? Perfect for a stoney seabed!

You don't have to be a child to gain inspiration, from a fun day at the beach .

Birds of a feather!!!

As you may have noticed, I do love feathers and plumes!

They look just fine in their natural setting, though "talulahblue" has other ideas for them.

Ostrich, Peacock, marabou and hackle..They all find a place in the workshop.

My jardin

" An imaginary garden began to appear, through an archway of birch, with the promise of orchards, roses and vines ",

part of a short poem, written by yours truly.

Mr Tony and I spent a couple of years working on our garden to get it ship shape.

It was just an expance of old lawn, when we moved into our home.

The garden mostly looks after itsself these days and at five years old, is coming into maturity.

My daughter gave me the floral trowel as a birthday gift this month {don't ask!!}.

A haven for people, cats, foxes , birds , bees and " hair bows! "
